Department of Transportation (DOTr) Secretary Arthur Tugade arrived at Tandag Airport in Tandag, Surigao del Sur to visit victims affected by floodings brought by Typhoon "Auring," and to attend a situation briefing to be presided by President Rodrigo Roa Duterte today, 23 February 2021.
The Transportation Chief was welcomed by Philippine Ports Authority (PPA) Port Management Office Surigao Acting Port Manager Froilan Caturla, Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) CARAGA Regional Director Maria Kristina Cassion, Land Transportation Office Tandag Chief Jimmy Daray and Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) District Commander Commodore Innocencio Rosario Jr.
Upon arrival, Secretary Tugade sought a meeting with frontliners from the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) who were among those who rescued several families stranded in towns in Surigao del Sur affected by the onslaught of "Auring," to convey his utmost appreciation.
“Nagpapasalamat ako sa inyo. Malaki ang pinagbago ng Coast Guard in terms of office, tao, relief and security. Nagpapasalamat ako sa liderato ni Commandant Ursabia. Alam ng Presidente at ng Office of the President kung ano ang ginagawa ninyong sakripisyo para makatulong sa tao. Basta tayo, One Coast Guard, One Family”, Secretary Tugade said.
Joining Secretary Tugade are Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) Secretary Silvestre Bello III, DOTr Chief of Staff and Assistant Secretary for Procurement and Project Implementation Giovanni Lopez, Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) Commandant George Ursabia and Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) Deputy Director General for Administration John Estabillo.
