Today, Department of Transportation (DOTr) Secretary Art Tugade visits Pangasinan, to personally inspect and assess various transport initiatives in the province, including Port Cluster Development Projects at Brgy. Capandanan and Brgy. Pangapisan, in Lingayen, Pangasinan.
These maritime development projects were pursued to address the dilemma of fisherfolks in the area who do not have any docking area and venues for the loading and loading of agricultural products. Also, without river landing facilities before, travel between Brgy. Capandanan and Brgy. Pangapisan via land trips were longer and inefficient, thereby resulting to lost opportunities.
With the realization of these game-changing projects, they paved the way for improved mobility and connectivity, resulting to a more robust economic activities.
Around 812 fisherfolks are benefiting from the projects, as they now have a decent and better docking areas for the hassle-free and smooth unloading and loading of their harvest.
Moreover, with the development of the river landings, travel time between the two barangays has been reduced to just 3-5 minutes, from the original 30 minutes via land trips.
This is what the DOTr, under the visionary leadership of Sec. Tugade, is providing —a future where the Filipino people can experience a fast, efficient, and better transportation system than before.
As Sec. Tugade underscores, “MAS MABILIS NA BIYAHE. MAS MAUNLAD NA PAMUMUHAY. MAS MAAYOS NA TRANSPORTATION SYSTEM. ‘Yan ho ang hatid ng Department of Transportation sa ating mga kababayan sa Pangasinan.”
