The Department of Transportation (DOTr), under the visionary leadership of Secretary Art Tugade, has been continuously pushing for the establishment of bike networks in the country, particularly in Metro Cebu, Metro Davao, and Metro Manila, with an aim to usher the country into a future of sustainability through active mobility.
Recently, the DOTr, along with the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH), headed by Secretary Mark Villar, inaugurated the 129-km bike lane network in Metro Cebu.
With an overall network length of 129.66 kilometers, the Metro Cebu bike lane network stretches across four (4) local government units: Cebu, Lapu-Lapu, Mandaue, and Talisay.
Completed on 30 June 2021, the bike lane network in Cebu features several road safety components, such as white and green pavement markings, traffic signages, flexible bollards, bike symbols, and concrete delineators to keep our bike riders secured at all times.
The network is also equipped with solar studs and bike racks for the convenience of bikers.
