The Department of Transportation (DOTr), under the unwavering leadership of Secretary Art Tugade, continues to find ways to helping drivers and operators of public utility jeepneys (PUJs), especially during this pandemic and fuel price increases.
One of the collective efforts is the fuel subsidy program that will be utilizing the existing system of the Pantawid Pasada Prorgram (PPP), benefitting income-hit transport workers.
Under the Fuel Subsidy Program, more than 136,000 legitimate PUJ franchise holders or operators are qualified beneficiaries, where 85,000 of them already have active PPP ATM cards. From the number of active PPP ATM card holders, around 78,000 operators can now use the subsidy for buying crude oil for their jeepneys drivers.
The 78,000 beneficiaries can now use the one-time fuel subsidy amounting to P7,200, as announced by the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB). More beneficiaries are expected to receive their fuel subsidy in the coming days.
This is how the government helps our jeepney operators and drivers - providing them with resources that will augment their daily living.
This is our genuine “malasakit” for our kababayans.
