Under the visionary leadership of Secretary Art Tugade, the Department of Transportation (DOTr) has been relentless in its goal of developing and enhancing the country's railway networks to promote enhanced connectivity and mobility across the nation and ultimately of providing Filipinos a more comfortable and convenient life.
As the Duterte administration nears its conclusion, Secretary Tugade made a covenant with the Filipino people not to waste even single day at work. There is no time to relax even until the last day of office.
And so, in the final days of the Duterte administration, the DOTr Railway Sector will continue to revive and develop the Philippine National Railways (PNR) Lucena-San Pablo line, which is set to reopen to serve passengers before the Duterte administration steps down in June.
The PNR Lucena-San Pablo line will be essential in restoring the PNR Bicol Express, which will link Metro Manila and the provinces in Southern Luzon, including Laguna, Quezon, Camarines Sur and Sorsogon. Through the PNR Lucena-San Pablo commuter line, travel time between San Pablo to Lucena will only take 1 hour and 30 minutes.
With the expected opening of the PNR Lucena-San Pablo line, it will help flourish the economic corridors of the provinces of Laguna, Quezon and their nearby areas, thereby fulfilling the marching order of President Rodrigo Roa Duterte to give the Filipino people a comfortable and convenient life.
