Within the final stretch of President Rodrigo Duterte's term, the Department of Transportation (DOTr) will continue to deliver its mandate of giving a more comfortable and convenient life for the Filipino people through improved connectivity and mobility across the archipelago.
Under the unwavering leadership of Secretary Art Tugade, the DOTr Maritime sector, the Philippine Ports Authority (PPA) and Cebu Ports Authority (CPA), have completed 579 social tourism and commercial port projects since 2016 up to the present. Additional 163 port projects are likewise ongoing.
The DOTr Maritime sector, together with the PPA and CPA, likewise constructed 11 new ports, while expanding 354 ports, and rehabilitating 114 existing ports.
Meanwhile, the PPA and CPA as well as the Maritime Industry Authority (MARINA) and Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) are equipping the country with modern and efficient maritime infrastructures and facilities to support the needs of the country’s economic activities and provide everyone with safe and efficient sea travel.
There may be 51 days left in President Duterte's term but rest assured that the DOTr shall continue exercising the value and relevance of the maritime sector by giving access to reliable sea transport and providing game-changing infrastructures and projects that will benefit Filipinos even beyond the Duterte administration's term.
