The Department of Transportation (DOTr) and Philippine National Railways (PNR) are set to reopen in the coming days the PNR Lucena-San Pablo line before President Rodrigo Roa Duterte’s term ends in two weeks.

Under the leadership of Secretary Art Tugade, the revival of the PNR Lucena-San Pablo line is a testament of the DOTr's goal of delivering the agency's goal of providing a more comfortable and convenient life to the Filipino people through enhanced mobility and connectivity across the archipelago.

Once reopened, the PNR Lucena-San Pablo line will be vital in restoring the PNR Bicol Express, which connects Metro Manila to Southern Luzon provinces, including Laguna, Quezon, Camarines Sur, and Sorsogon.

Through the PNR Lucena-San Pablo line, travel time between San Pablo, Laguna, and Lucena, Quezon will be cut to 30 minutes from the usual one (1) hour.

Reopening the PNR Lucena-San Pablo line will usher in economic and tourism growth in the provinces of Laguna, Quezon, and nearby areas.

In the last 11 days under the Duterte administration, the DOTr will continue to work, work, and work for the Filipino people to enjoy and benefit from transformational projects and initiatives for many years.
