PASAY – Ninoy Aquino International Airport MIAA General Manager (GM) Cesar Chiong paid the Office for Transportation Security (OTS) a visit and served as its Guest of Honor and Speaker during its flag-raising ceremony held on Monday, 05 September 2022.

OTS Transport Security Accreditation and Training Management Service Director Michael Africa said that the official visit of GM Chiong is a strong testament to the partnership between the two agencies under the Department of Transportation.

OTS Administrator Undersecretary Ma.O Aplasca described GM Chiong as a very dedicated public servant and has displayed commitment in his work.

“Ang ating Guest of Honor ay isang public servant na talagang totoo sa puso. Matagal po ang ating Guest of Honor sa private sector, and I think, he has proven his worth in all of these assignments.” Usec. Aplasca said.

For his part, GM Chiong expressed his gratitude to the OTS for the support and cooperation it has extended to the MIAA.

“I really wanted to thank you especially with the recent assessment we had by the US TSA. That was very successful, thank you very much. During our discussions I’ve always told the team that we shouldn’t be doing these practices and standards just because there’s an assessment or audit. We should do this, because it is the right thing to do,” GM Chiong said, reiterating that the OTS and MIAA would need to work together to ensure the security of airport passengers.

Certificates of Commendation were also awarded to key Officers and employees of the agency who took part and made significant efforts during the recently concluded joint security assessment of NAIA by the OTS and its foreign counterpart US Transport Security Administration.

The ceremony was followed by an executive meeting to discuss security matters and initiatives that would help advance the agenda of the current administration under President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. in terms of economic recovery and prosperity.
